Lakeview winding down

We have our last guests of the season staying this weekend and I hope they will enjoy an  evening by the campfire and the remaining brilliant colours of the Fall. Next week we will be putting the gardens to bed and storing all the summer furniture.

Jim and I would like to thank all of our guests this past Spring, Summer and Fall. We continue to have wonderful guests who treat our home like it is their own. Our goal is for families to connect, unwind and enjoy the outdoors, Sandbanks Park and the County from the home base of Lakeview Farm House.

We would also like to thank the young brides and bridegrooms who chose Lakeview as their wedding venue. It was a new experience for us and we thank you for your vision. You indeed turned the property into a magical space with your individual creativity.

We welcome you all back and also welcome new guests for the 2016 Spring, Summer and Fall seasons.

Winter well…. and we will see you in the Spring.

Many thanks,
Anne and Jim

Welcome to Lakeview 2014

We are looking forward to the arrival of our first guests of the season tomorrow. We have completed the redecorating of the Lakeview upstairs with light and airy rooms; new paint, wallpaper, painted furniture, new window treatments and lighting. Thanks to Andy and Deb who persevered throughout the winter to refresh…

More pictures to come…

Plan your wedding at Lakeview

Elizabeth Renzetti’s column  in the Globe and Mail yesterday was an amusing read and interesting timing as I have been thinking that Lakeview would be a great venue for a wedding. A private home within the Sandbanks Park, Lakeview Farm House sits on three acres of land with mature trees and gardens. There is ample space for a tent, musicians, etc… The wedding party could walk down to the beach for photo ops. You would have use of the whole house as well as the grounds, no neighbours in site. There are five bedrooms for the bride and her family/bridesmaids to spend the evening before the wedding.

It makes me think of one of the nicest weddings I have been to, which took place about 20 years ago when I was living in Norway. An American friend was marrying a Norwegian man and we spent the evening before the nuptials at the home of one of the groom’s sisters. All the womenfolk, Americans and Norwegians alike, walked into the back fields cutting wild flowers. The light was perfect, the mood relaxing and the camaraderie lovely. We  returned to the house with our bounty and sat on the porch, along the stairs, or at a backyard table with drinking glasses and vases. We  snipped and arranged our flowers in simple containers as we talked, laughed, drank some wine and prepared for the following day – completely relaxed!

I think a wedding at Lakeview could be something like that. Some of the pictures I took the other day made me think of June weddings as well. I got married three years ago in June (just further down the road from Lakeview) If you are planning a Spring or Summer or Fall wedding in 2014 – we should talk! Send me an email. awalby@mac.com
