Summer at Sandbanks Park

We are in the middle of our season at Lakeview and enjoying some wonderful sunny days. Prince Edward County has received below normal rainfall this Spring and summer, so the grass is parched and there is a burn ban in effect in the County until further notice.

Hopefully our guests are enjoying the hot, sunny weather and enjoying the cooler breezes at the beach.

Lakeview winding down

We have our last guests of the season staying this weekend and I hope they will enjoy an  evening by the campfire and the remaining brilliant colours of the Fall. Next week we will be putting the gardens to bed and storing all the summer furniture.

Jim and I would like to thank all of our guests this past Spring, Summer and Fall. We continue to have wonderful guests who treat our home like it is their own. Our goal is for families to connect, unwind and enjoy the outdoors, Sandbanks Park and the County from the home base of Lakeview Farm House.

We would also like to thank the young brides and bridegrooms who chose Lakeview as their wedding venue. It was a new experience for us and we thank you for your vision. You indeed turned the property into a magical space with your individual creativity.

We welcome you all back and also welcome new guests for the 2016 Spring, Summer and Fall seasons.

Winter well…. and we will see you in the Spring.

Many thanks,
Anne and Jim

Open for the Season

Happy to say we opened for the season last weekend. Our first group was visiting to celebrate a bachelorette weekend. Their kind note in the guest book indicated they had a memorable weekend and enjoyed their time together at the house and on the patio (yes, it was warm enough!)

The County is a great place for celebrations and events – there are wine tours, great dinner and cocktail spots, including the addition of the Drake Devonshire in Wellington and the Hayloft Dance Hall due to open in May featuring live music.

Pictures will follow of the updates at Lakeview, including the new firepit and Adirondack chairs, the fairy lights, the blossoming perennial garden – front yard landscaping and, we are also putting on a new roof… We look forward to a great summer at Lakeview where our guests can enjoy the beach, the tranquility, biking, kayaking and backyard activities including croquet, bocce, volleyball, and badminton –  If you have any other suggestions for games to include just let us know. And there is always laying in the hammock reading a book or sipping a glass of chilled white wine.

We are also excited to be having our first large wedding on the property later this Spring. Please contact me if you would like to discuss the possibility of having your wedding at Lakeview inside the Sandbanks Park.

Lakeview in 2015

We have already received some week-long bookings during the wonderful summer months at Lakeview.  Both the Spring are excellent times to visit the Sandbanks Park if you are looking for peace and enjoyment. You are likely to have the beach pretty much to yourselves and there is no shortage of fun outdoor activities around.

We will have a firepit for next season and the kitchen did get painted – the framework will be done too in the Spring. We have reorganized the perennial garden with a flagstone pathway and will be adding more outdoor games – such as bocce and croquet as well as volleyball and badminton.

You may be thinking about a County venue for your wedding next Spring or Fall and we think Lakeview is a pretty nice setting – so if you are interested let me know!

In a wedding frame of mind

As we have just said goodbye to our last guests at Lakeview, we would like to thank everyone for another wonderful season.  We thank our guests who came from far and wide – lovely families who seemed to enjoy what the County, the Sandbanks Park and Lakeview have to offer.

The leaves are here, the Mums are fading and the furniture is going inside for the Winter

The Autumn has been outstanding here this year, and as things get put away for the season,  I am already excited about the planning for next season. We are looking  forward to a wedding next Spring for a lovely young couple, the perennial garden is in the midst of being redesigned with a stepping path throughout, and, due to popular demand, we will have a firepit next season. I will be busy painting the kitchen cabinets later this week. Stay tuned for more news on our upgrades.

I was just over at Lakeview showing the property to a family who are looking for a wedding venue for 2016 – and as we were leaving, another young couple came up the walkway with a baby in tow – they married here one year ago and were out walking the beach on their anniversary – it was lovely to see them…. Happy thoughts…

If you are interested in planning a wedding at Lakeview, let me know.

Autumn at Sandbanks

After a coolish summer, this fall is ablaze with colour and warmth. As harvest in the County is at its peak with amazing farm fresh vegetables, there is no better time to come spend a long weekend at Lakeview. Get a group together or just come on your own (Yes, we do take twosomes with corresponding rates throughout the Fall) to perch yourself on the shores of the Outlet Beach. The games are up, the hammock is out, the beach will be all yours and the wine is chilled.

We are full through October 13, but please cal (613-393-2424)l or email Sandbanks Vacations ( for any time after that….

We look forward to welcoming you…

Anne and Jim
